GED has launched two of its flagship reports. 1. Bangladesh State of the Economy, 2025 and 2. SDG Progress Report, 2025. Professor Anisuzzaman Chowdhury, Special Assistant to Hon’ble Chief Advisor graced the event as the chief guest. Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur, Governor, Bangladesh Bank, Mr. Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Hon’ble Chief Advisor, Ms. Lamiya Morshed, Principal SDG Coordinator, Mr. Khairuzzaman Chowdhury, Secretary, Finance Ministry, Mr. Abdur Rahman Khan, NBR Chairman and Mr. Shakil Akter, Secretary, Planning Ministry graced the event as special guests. The seminar also had a distinguished panel of discussants: Professor Mahbubullah, ex Chairman, Department of Development Studies, University of Dhaka; Professor Mustafizur Rahman, Distinguished Fellow, CPD and Dr. Zahid Hussain, former lead economist, World Bank Dhaka. Dr. Monzur Hossain, Member (Secretary), GED chaired the session. Government officials, representatives from research institutes and academia were present in the seminar.
An enlightened and rich discussion was held on the current economic situation, achievements in the past one year or so, challenges of the economy and future directions. Dr. Munira Begum, Additional Secretary, GED made a presentation on the reports.
As a chair, Member (Secretary), GED highlighted that GED will continue this type of publications and arrange discussions involving both government and non-government participants to facilitate transparent and accountable economic policymaking.
